Tucson Wildlife Center

Bobcat at my House

From mid-June until early August 2017, I volunteered at the Tucson Wildlife Center (who’s website you can access here), an organization devoted to rescuing orphaned and injured wildlife with the overall goal of releasing the rehabilitated animals back into the wild. Those that cannot be returned live out the rest of their lives at the sanctuary to be used for educational purposes. Most of what I did involved feeding baby birds (some as often as every 30 minutes!), though cleaning cages and performing other routine chores were also a large part of the task. Nonetheless, if I choose to work with the organization again in the future, I hope to take care of the mammals as well after I get my rabies shots. All in all, though, in addition to providing some great experience in working with the animals, the Center further increased my appreciation of how much effort goes into wildlife rehabilitation, something that I am very passionate about.
